I still wear a suit and tie to church. Would prefer an IWB holster but, though I'm not really a hugger by nature, there are those who are and I don't wish to be made.
It is against the law to carry in a church in Texas.
See page 38: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/interne...rms/chl-16.pdf
Edit: see page 39 - (i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06.

Thanks. I believe you are right. I should have read further. It does appear that a sign has to be posted.

I don't remember my CHL instructor saying anything about a sign needing to be posted for a church. I just remember him saying that you cannot carry in a church.

I don't goto Church... I don't like to ask & believe if God wants to give me something, he knows where on Earth I am... which is a teeny tiny place compared to the whole universe he built.

Section 30.06 was amended a few years back to allow Texas license holders to carry in a house of worship unless the legally prescribed signage is properly displayed.

I always have my M&P40c with me (Sticky Holster) even when playing bass in the worship team. Evil knows no boundaries and it reminds me of this story
<this is not a true story but just for the point>
Some people were in a flood area and were warned to leave as flooding was expected. They said, "we don't need to leave, if it floods God will save us."
So the flood waters came and they were forced to the roof of their house. A boat comes by and the guy in it yells, "I'll take you to safety!" The people on the roof yell back, "no thanks, God will save us." The water kept rising and pretty soon another boat comes by and the deputy inside tells them they need to come with him. They respond, "no, not going to leave. God will save us." So, as the situation is getting more dire, a helicopter sees them and, through the loudspeaker, the people hear, "we'll let down a ladder and you can climb up to safety." But again, they yell back, "nope, God will save us." So they all drown. They get to the pearly gates and St. Peter is there and asks them, "what happened?" They replied, "we stayed to the end believing that God would save us, but for some reason he didn't." Peter replies, "we sent you 2 boats and a helicopter, what more did you want?"
The moral of the story is, that not all things are done in a supernatural fashion and sometimes you have to use what is at hand.

Have you considered asking him what he wants you to do? Don't answer, it's just something to think about.

Last week was a Glock 23 and next week will be a Kimber CDP Ultra Carry II. We can carry our church. And it's not so much while in the church, but the before and after services.
