    Problems with S&W Shields?

Anybody else having problems with their S&W Shield (.40 cal)? Nothing MAJOR on my part but still annoying that I had to send the gun back to S&W for the magazine drop problem. Now I have to return it because a rolled pin just above and foward of the trigger keeps working it's way out the right side of the gun (see photo). I can drive it back in but it will protrude again within 20 to 30 rounds. Guess I will have to go back to the G19 for a while...

Kind of disappointing after all the hype about this gun. Wonder if the people with the 9 mm version have experienced similar issues?

I've fired 1075 rounds out of my 9mm Shield since I bought it new, and I haven't had any problems with it at all. I haven't heard or seen any forum topics about this problem before - hopefully it's an isolated incident. I'm sure S&W will take care of it under warranty.

For me, all the hype of the gun has stood very warranted, both from 3rd party stories and personal experience.

I have the 9mm and not sure of shot count, but no problems noted. Sorry to hear you are having troubles!

I had the same problem w/my G22. A little bit of clear nail polish on the pin, over the hole, or both will fix it. As I understand it the pin is just too small for the hole.

I don't know how many rounds I've shot through my Shield. Maybe 850? No issues. Fast, Accurate, Reliable. Eats all types of ammo that I've fed it so far. I have the 9mm version.

I have heard of this and S&W will send out a new roll pin. I'm sure they would take it back for a repair if you wanted

Not one issue in my Shield 9, but I think there's something to be said about that size of a carry piece in .40 cal. My 40 PPS also was riddled with issues and even a malfunction that completely disabled the weapon.

Or is the hole too big for the pin?

If you check out the S&W forum, you will find that the problem with the 40 cal. Shield is fairly common.

If only the pps was in the same price range as the shield.. But more on topic, hope that gun gets fixed!

I sent my .40 shield in for the mag drop and the roll pin issue. They fixed both issues in three weeks, door to door. I was pissed and annoyed about it at first but its just like a warranty issue on a car. As long as they fix it for free then im good with it.
