Diamondback DB9. As small and light as a 380 pocket gun but packs a 9mm cartridge. God Bless

I like to ankle carry a Smith and Wesson 638 airweight in a Fobus ankle carry holster. You will not know its there. ( unless you wear a dress )

If you do not want another firearm look into a knife.

Haha, i certainly wont be wearing a dress as i am a man. As far as the knife goes, i would rather not need to be within arms length if i am defending my life. If i were to have to be that close, i would still rather have a firearm than a knife.

Good suggestions so far... keep em comin

Actually, not a bad idea. Seems small enough and can share spare mags.

And now for something completely different...

What about making the Shield the back-up for something else a bit larger?

    This.

Or Ruger LCR. Light as a feather and incredibly reliable.

I'd go with the LCR. The best idea is probably is another Shield but the OP is probably like most of us and wants another different toy.

I only carry the small single stack 9mm's as a backup to a larger gun, so in light of that, I would suggest the M&P9C as a primary, and switching the Sheild to the backup....but I'm
    just weird that way.

I was going to say Mossberg 500 Chainsaw but the post a few above just made that seem trivial. LOL.
