    Help identifying this pistol

A friend's father passed away and they found this handgun. He hasn't seen it personally, this is a picture from his brother, so I'm not sure what the markings say. He's asking my advice and I don't know what it is or what its worth.

    Any ideas?

Ask him to take a few photos with no flash. It would be easier to help you if we could see pistol with no glare.

Looks like it says STAR on the slide. A friend of mine has a Star pistol. I don't believe they are worth a lot.

    Russian Stechkin Pistol

This looks like a Russian Stechkin Pistol.

    Awesome!
    Thanks all:

My guess (from searching Star Firearms in Google) is its a Star Model F in 22lr.
