Finally did it..

I was crazy enough to head out around 4:30ish AM on Friday. Went to the typical places, like Walmart and the mall. There's a Bass Pro next to the mall so naturally I ended up there as well. Fondled many guns and I decided on the XDs. I hand him over my ID and he said it'd be about two hours wait while pointing to a group of people also waiting. I had things to do and was not going yo stand there for 2 hours.. there's only so much to look at..

Later in the afternoon I stopped by a gun store my friend swears by, for the first time. As soon as I walked in, I saw it and knew it'd be the start of a great future together..





RIA with Crimson Trace lasergrips already on it, $495 after tax. It was an employee's first 1911, after 6 months he traded it in for a Kimber and now, it's my first. :D

I put a box through it a little bit ago before running some errands. Absolutely loved how it felt while shooting and ran flawlessly. I have a funny feeling my Glock's might be conspiring together against me.. Over all, I'm really impressed with it and extremely happy that I stumbled across it. It was kind of weird actually, soon as I walked into the gun store I glanced at all the rifles on the wall while making my way to the handguns and it was the very first one I seen. I knew right then and there.

With it being college football day, the rum comes out and guns go in, as I like to say.

Being completely new to 1911's is there anything I should know? Any ammo recommendations, etc.

From 25 yards out. First 'focal' point was the arm and biceps then just went with head shots. I usually shoot all my handguns @ 25 yards out but do still practice at more 'likely' SD distances. The eyes were intentional. When I use these targets, I like to always start with the arm and biceps since that's where the weapon is.

I was really impressed with not only the accuracy but also how smooth it ran. No problems whatsoever after 150 rounds through it. The trigger is lovely! The guy before me really did all the 'breaking in' on it, so now I just get to enjoy the fruits of his labor.

There may be many of these RIA's out there, but this one is mine and always will be and I'll continue to enjoy my relationship with it, as it, like any weapon, is an extension of myself.
