Looking to try something new
The wife wants to buy me a new 9mm for Christmas and I really wanna try something new. I have been eyeing the fn fnx-9 and the cz p-07 duty. The p-07 would be a little better for carry due to its slightly smaller dimensions but the fnx-9 has slightly larger capacity. I travel a lot for work and this gun is gonna be my beat the hell out of travel gun. Any opinions or advice would help. Let me know what you think.

By the way I have never owned a weapon by either Manu. But have shot both guns with great results on both.

I have an FNX-9 and a CZ85B. Can't respond about a comparison, with the P-07 but the FN is nice, but slightly large for carry. Once I got the right kind of holster it became a non-issue. With a good holster, it works out fine.
The sights on the FNX are a little different than what I am used to. The front sight dot is larger than the rear sight dots and the weapon is sighted to be on target when the front sight dot is laid on top of the target, so the front dot covers the target. My CZ, on the other hand, is sighted so that the target sits right on top of the front sight.
There have been some issues with the trigger group on the FN, but I have not encountered it. It seems there were some units that would cease working in double action when extremely hot. I understand that issue was corrected with the installation of a different trigger group.
The FN has both a manual safety and a decocker mode, while the CZ has only the decocker. That is probably the main reason I went with the FNX at the time. Now that I look back, and having the CZ85B for a while, I probably would have opted to save the $200 difference and gone with the P-07.
BTW - I don't know what your experience has been, but around here it is a lot easier to find an FNX-9 than a CZ P-07 (or any other CZ for that matter).
Good luck with your decision.

Good instincts, with that CZ catching your eye. IMO, any of the CZ 75-series, P-01, PCR, P-06 or P-07 should be a great choice. As suggested, they're definitely full-sized guns. But excellent.

Not too concerned with size since this gun will mainly spend its time between the seats of my van or on the hotel night stand.

Can't go wrong with a CZ. I own 6 of them, never an issue with any of them.
