If you buy a junk safe, then show your 3 year old how to open it.
Yes, you will have a problem.
That has to be the dumbest article I have ever read.

My nightstand safe is to keep the gun out of "easy" reach. It's not to keep the gun secure. For that I have a massive combo lock safe in my basement.
Wow that was bad. Boring article - tl;dr.
Video clearly shows the kid is almost 4 (kidding...) and the "safes" are junk/combo=1234/kid has slim jim?!??
Just weird.

Yep, and it's true... most are easily bumped to dislodge the solenoid, so mounting them to a shelf or wall reduces that risk somewhat. The others that are defeated with a paperclip, shim or screwdriver are just junk that should be pulled from the market.
As one of the related articles suggests, getting a gun safe from a vendor specializing i safes is more prudent than getting cheap Chinese junk from a big-box store.
Stack-On's corporate response borders is incredibly unethical and ignorant.

Even if you have to teach a 3 year old how to do it;it still should not be possible for him to do.

I'll use the car analogy when buying safes. How much $$$ do you have and how fast/secure do you want to go/be?
The video is to point out to morons who hate guns, that no matter what responsible owners do to secure weapons, it just won't be good enough. So ban all guns.

Keep in mind that the average three year old is smarter than the average crook.
Earth is the insane asylum of the universe!
the only loaded gun in my house is the one carried on my person and when at home magazine inserted chamber empty, I have plenty of time to rack the slide, if someone tries to get into my house, through my security door or my windows with bars on them, rest is locked away unloaded
A friend will help you move. A real friend will help move the bodies.
I picked a Brinks numeric combo lock today with a hairpin and a 2 minute YouTube lesson. I sure don't trust Brinks locks anymore.
Buy a quality safe from a reputable vendor.

You can also find several videos on line by the same guy showing how easy it is to gain access to many of these popular electronic handgun safes. There are several better choices avail. Look at the ones that have mechanical push button locks such as V-Line, Fort Knox and FAS1 Safe. All these are also constucted with heavier steel from ranging from 14ga to 7ga. More steel also means more $$.
As the old saying goes you get what you pay for. If you spend $200 or less on a safe you can't expect Fort Knox security.
A cheap safe is better than just sticking your gun in a drawer or trying to hide it. There's no fail-safe method. That's where vigilance, consistency, and even creativity come into play. I have a "cheap" safe, but it's kept up high and it has a lock-out system should an incorrect code be entered more than twice.
But of course leave it to the anti-gun goons to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Any small weakness can be exploited and blown out of proportion, I suppose.

So...it's the safe's fault?
Where were the parents? Obviously the child who killed himself didn't go on YouTube to learn how to open a safe. It sounds like he had a lot of time to figure it out.
That said, sounds like market forces are going to determine if these safes remain in the marketplace. The last thing we need are more government "help" via laws and regulations.

You have never lived until you have almost died. For those that have fought for it, life has a special flavor the protected will never know
I have a COM safe I don't think your gonna get a 3 year old to open it,and it only cost about $28,mine has a combo lock and after entering the right combo you have to physically turn a latch that is pretty tight, your not gonna bump it or slim jim or paper ckip it open IMHO
