Oldvet. Ahhhh, I see! Thanks for clarifying that for me, I didn't know you were trimming down. Am trying out my new E. German mags in my Russian, and the slide locks to the rear every time I go empty. Am shooting a little low and right @ 25 yards. Gonna do some sight adjustments now...

About the only place I have seen the Makarov Mags is at the gun shows that pop up 2-3 times a year in my area. And I agree, avalability of the 9x18 ammo is getting thinner, more scarce, and more expensive.

If you can find one, look at getting the fixed rear sight replacement for the adjustable Russians. Alot more carry friendly than the adjustable sights.

I don't have to jump through hoops to post a decent sized pic there, they just post it This is a bunch of sh-t! Tried TinyPic, got rerouted to Photobucket. Have had this heavy little pistol 20 years. Finally, had the opportunity to order some spare mags (difficult to find!) from Sportsman's Guide. Mags are for E. German Makarovs. Am hoping the mags work well in my Russian. Have ordered after market magazines for the Makarov in the past, but they came in .380, and the 9x18s don't feed well through them.

Original milsurp 9mm Makarov magazines work just fine with .380.

Aftermarket is probably Promag. Ditch them.

Alas, the days of abundant sub-$10 milsurp Makarov magazines is long gone.

Yes. I am VERY fortunate to have seven Makarov mags actually made for the Mak. 4 Russian & 3 E. German. The East Germans worked flawlessly yesterday. I am seriously thinking about ditching the aftermarket mags. But they have interchangeable parts, like springs. So I'm going to put them in a parts box or something.
