    1911 shopping

I am considering the possibility of saving up for and getting a 1911 model pistol (as well as a Glock). I know what Glocks go for and there is only one brand of Glock (obviously). However, there are a lot of people making 1911 style pistols.

I want one that is quality but I am not looking for the BMW of 1911's (i.e. Colt itself is out of the question).

Any suggestions as to a good brand and model?

Check out the new Taurus, Kimber, SA government model.
These three would be a good start. Find a range where you can tryout an example of each. shoot about a hundred rounds through each.

Thanks. From what I have seen online, I am interested in shooting the SA and the Kimber Custom II.

My vote is for the Springfield Loaded. Mine is parked.

I liked the Loaded so much, I bought another with a rail.

I'll take a .45 and a large side of JHPs, please.

I'd try the new Taurus, if you can find one. My gunshop sells them within 5 minutes after they unpack them. I've heard nothing but good things about them, and the price is right for what you get.

Most of what's offered by other manufacturers cost more than a new Colt.
Check out Bud's every few days as his inventory is updated daily.

No one else seems to want to say it, so allow me:

Get a Colt 1911; you're grandkids will thank your for it when it gets passed to them.

Kimber Custom2 is a good gun.

Mine had the external extractor and problems, sent it back to Kimber they replaced the slide with the internal extractor, throated, polished and hand fit the new slide.

    Now it's flawless.
