And I was going to say you went with a Louisville Slugger, Nothing like being up close and personal but I can see the rational of going with the M&P.

    Sixto ditches the 228!?

S&W M&Ps have proven to be an extremely reliable sidearm.

Might as well get one of these now, before the end of the next four years, we'll all have them.

I, too, have left SIGs and just bought an M&P 9 Pro Series last week. With any luck, the Shield I ordered this weekend will come in soon.

ah, yes. M&P's....if they ever outlaw all those evil Glocks, M&P's will do nicely.

Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.

I Have an M&P45c let a friend shoot it at the range as I was teaching him to shoot and the different types of guns/trigger systems etc.He shot a mag of my reloads thru it and scored well, looked at me and said wow that's got a really nice trigger

I'm ready for a change myself mostly just for the heckovit in combination with the fact that there is one "out there" that I really have my eye on.

BUT, that firearm that I am really interested in has yet to end up on a doggone dealer shelf so that I can actually handle it before I plunk down a wad for it.

The handgun that I really want is the DETONICS MTX .45acp.

Common sense is telling me I should probably wait a bit longer though ~ before I put my John Hancock on their waiting list.

And then I would need (at least) 5 magazines right off the bat & it only ships w/ one. I don't know what magazine availability is like. I can build my own holster.

Truthfully I have not been more excited about any handgun in years.

If I could design/build a handgun in my dreams and have it pop out from under my pillow in the morning it would be really super close to the MTX.

I need to call DETONICS and ask some serious questions very soon.

M&P? I had a M&P 9c and quickly ditched it, I can not get warmed up to a polymer/striker fired pistol, wish I could, the weight savings would be nice. For ME, Sigs are it. Although I'm gonna revisit the M&P 9 Pro C.O.R.E when it comes out.
I carry a .357mag because no one bickers about the .357mag being "enough".

I've got no problem with the pistol itself, just S&W lack of coming up with their own stuff.
Went shooting with a friend a few weeks ago and shot his M&P, and I liked the gun, it shot well. I can see why some would prefer it over the Glock. Just not me.

So... wait... we went through all that, for an M&P?

    I feel cheated.

I think the obvious answer here is ergonomics. The m&p is the pistol the glock guys go to when they are sick of 2X4 ergonomics which I believe is Glocks only flaw.
