Agreed. They didn't add anything that was "needed" to gen4s IMO.

Just got back from the range. The weather actually turned out to be ok.

150 rounds of Federal 115gr FMJs ran flawless. Brass was not ejected very far. They barely cleared my shoulder, but none hit me in the face.

50 rounds Fed 147gr HPs ran flawless (not my carry ammo, but someone gave them to me, might as well shoot them). Brass was ejected a little further.

50 rounds Speer GD 124gr +p ran flawless(my carry ammo). Brass was ejected the furthest as to be expected.

I do think that the dual RSA handles recoil a little better than my Gen2 (which handles recoil fine). This firearm was a dream to shoot. I now trust this firearm for carry. I'm just waiting for my Trijicon HDs which are on back order at Brownell's.

All in all, I'm glad that I made the plunge.

Well, I like the larger magazine release on the Gen 4.

The larger mag catch is a nice feature, but I never had issues w/ the original design. The 2 things that I really like about the Gen4's are the rough texture grip (no need for my usual Talon grips) and the dual RSA. Like I said before, the recoil on my Gen2's & 3's was not bad at all, but the Gen4 is definitely a little softer shooting!

I'm glad to hear your first trip was a success!

Good call on the Trijicon HD's. I did the same thing. I ordered a set of orange HD's for mine the day after I ordered the gun. What color are you getting? Did you use those sights on any of your other firearms?

Yes! Orange is the way to go. I have them on my Glock 22 and 26. I ordered two pairs, one for my new Gen4 19 and the other will probably go on my Gen2 G17. I wish I had the money to put them on all of my guns, but they are a bit pricey.

I love the quick sight picture, yet they can still line up a precise shot. I had shot my buddies M&P w/ XS Big Dots. I liked them a lot, but the orange front sight really jumps out at you on the HD's.

I found a super clean G19Gen4 at a pawnshop for $409, with all three mags...they had just put it out, so my timing was perfect. I immediately put it on layaway, and will pay it off over the next couple of months. I already have the G23Gen4, so no rush to pull it out.

I have one and I love it, especially because I shoot lefty and I can switch the mag release. If you want it, buy it ! An extra glock laying around can never hurt

    I bought a Gen 4 G19 today! Have two Gen 3's already...a 19 and a 26. I'm a little apprehensive and originally wanted another Gen 3. We'll see how it plays out.

Here's my issue: My wife loves my Gen 3 G19. I love carry it in the cooler months. This leaves only two handguns at home with my wife, a G26 and a Kahr PM9. She's not overly familiar with the Kahr and I'm not sure I want her training on it extensively. So, my goal is to have three G19's scattered throughout the house for her to use if need be. I may even sell the G26 to fund two more G19's. Call me crazy, but.... On a side note, she'll probably be carrying my Gen 3 G19 sooner than later!

We'll see what generation th next G19 will be after I work up the new Gen 4 a while.

    Gen 4 G19?

How do you tell the difference between the Gen3 and 4?

The Gen 4 says Gen 4 on the slide. The grip is textured differently and has removable backstraps.

Yeah. I don't know if I should have done this. Now I may start collecting Gen4's. I'll be keeping all my Gen2's & 3's, but I do see another Gen4 purchase in the not too distant future. Maybe a 17 or 34?
