I carry a full size 1911 every once in a while.
I wouldn't hesitate to carry one full time, if I was so inclined.
Problem is; there's so many other pistols that need to be tried out, too

Oooh... do it! Do it!
I picked up the Kimber version and I LOVE that compact grip while still having that longer sight radius.
Best of both worlds!
Only thing is, it came with Crimson Trace grips (which I don't care for)...so I ripped them off and sold them for a couple hundred bucks and commissioned some custom grips that I am extremely happy with!

I just ordered a stainless Kimber pro carry 2 for my new ccw. For the last 15 years I have carried a s&w 642 or .40 cal Beretta. I really liked the Beretta design and it Is what I carried in the U.S.M.C. (only then it was a 9mm).
I have other 1911's but to be on your ccw in CA, they have to be on the CA safe gun list.
Currently carriyng a LW Colt Commander XSE. Love it. Fine balance, great round and 8+1 with 1-2 mags on the belt gives one that warm fuzzy feeling. From my limited carry experience it is a great all around gun: Thin, good capacity, good round IMO and not too large (length or height) depending on how one views it.

Not too long ago I acquired holsters for both of my Kimbers, a Custom Target full size, and an Ultra CDP II. I have carried both of them recently. I have shot them enough to know that they are as reliable as any of my other pistols.
currently carrying a Kimber Raptor II Pro ...(4 inch barrel) not sure what it is but I always tend to go back to the 1911/45ACP .. love shooting it![]()
1911 is my primary carry gun, i go between a 4 inch Wilson xtac, 5" Wilson professional and now there's a kimber raptor and sig scorpion carry in my rotation..... Holster is everything when luggin around a big gun

Since I appendix carry I find "Commander" size firearms fit the best. I carry a Colt Lightweight Commander from time to time, but also like my Sig P220 and Glock 30.
Absolutely. I like the CCO size, but for someone used to a revolver or a pistol without a thumb safety, the 1911 takes some time to get used to when using it as a defensive weapon
Chose a weapon that goes bang EVERY time!
I carry my 1911 on occasion. Mostly though, I carry my 9mm Witness, it's the gun I am most familiar and comfortable with.
My primary off duty piece is a custom Colt 1991A1 Compact, great gun.
Never forget. Never forgive.
