I carry an old 1930's M&P .38 from time to time.

I carry an old 1930's M&P .38 from time to time.
I have carried an
Egyptian tokarev
Makarov
Remington 1911
S&W Victory model
S&W M&P
But I really collect old police marked guns
a S&W model 10 marked ATLANTA PD
S&W Model 10 Marked RHKPD { Royal Hong Kong PD}
and a Colt SAA Marked RM NWT {Royal Mountys North West Teritory's}
When I bought these they were just considered old guns.
I have others but they would definitely not be carry guns
Keep in mind that if you're ever forced to use your carry weapon to defend your life, it will be confiscated by law enforcement. If the shooting is ultimately determined to be justified, you'll probably get it back. However, the police don't baby their confiscated firearms. It might not be in pristine condition when it's returned.
If the weapon has significant sentimental value or is a museum piece, I'd leave it at home, personally.
I guess my beloved 228 qualifies too

M&P Doc- Just ask.
I've carried my Bulgarian Makarov many times.
Even though I'm mainly a revolver guy, I really like carrying my Makarov.
Also have carried a Polish P64 Radom.
In addition, I own a Nagant revolver, Romanian Tokarev, and CZ82.
Since I really find 'new' guns quite boring, I only have 'old' guns - with the exception of the USP(c)40 I carry mainly.
Topsider makes a good point about being involved in a shooting; the authorities will temporarily seize the firearm until the matter is resolved. Other than Chicago or NYC, I have little fear police will mistreat the pistol, BUT it must be maintained in the condition in which it is seized for evidential integrity. So it will not be cleaned, lubed, wiped down and so forth. I have little doubt it will be returned to me, but I would estimate a minimum of three or four months at the least. That's a long time if I bled on the poor dear or some other liquid or chemical were splashed on it while I am defending myself.
Having said that, I do from time to time carry a modified (prior to my having it) 1918 built 1911 made by Remington UMC. I also have several K and N frame revolvers that suit my personality as well.
I have a middle to late 1970s Smith & Wesson Model 39 that works just as well as the day it was made.
Someone mentioned being worried about using 'older' guns with 'modern high pressure ammunition'. Unless it is '+p' ammunition, .45 ACP is still the same pressure levels as the first run 1911 pistols used. 9x19 if anything is loaded to lower pressures than the P08 designated ammunition. .38 Special (standard) is the same as it has always been.
I'm an old man, I carry an old gun and drink old whiskey. If I could afford it, I'd have an old car, but on my income I can only afford a new Mustang.
