Found me a Ruger
Been looking for a Ruger GP100 For some reason I like revolvers. So I stop in a small shop today and they have a mint Ruger Security Six 4" stainless. I look it over the gun looks like new and the price is right so I bring it home. Stopped on my way and ran some ammo through it this thing is sweet. I have heard they have a rough trigger but someone must have had this one worked over because it is real nice. It hits right where I am looking. This is my new CCW.

Nice buy. One of the best revolvers around.

Tntom, nice revolver you picked up there. Nothing wrong with carrying a revolver. I don't think you will have to worry about getting a FTF or FTE out of that.

My first revolver was a Ruger Service Six same revolver but with fixed sights instead. You cannot go wrong with a Ruger revolver they are built like tanks.

Pictures or it didn't happen.

My first full-size revolver was a Ruger Security Six. Back when the Y2K scare was looming, my shooting buddy and I were discussing our various preparations. I think he said he had a .357 for each member of the family, and I confessed I had none. He looked at me with a straight face and said, "I thought having a .357 was like having a mailbox." That shamed me into finding my Security Six, a 6-inch stainless model. I ditched those user-hostile, teeny wood grips in favor of a Hogue Monogrip after a session with full-house magnum loads, and that made it a lot nicer on the hand.
The coincidental thing is that I just took the gun out of the safe yesterday and shot it for the first time in years. I was chronographing some .38 loads I'd put together, and wanted to compare velocities through a 6-inch barrel with the same loads through 4- and 2-inch tubes. Lordy, what a nice gun that is to shoot! I only shot double action, but the trigger was just fine - and that's coming from a guy who shoots 500 rounds a month with a 1911.
The Security Six won't win any beauty contests, but like most Rugers it's as rugged as an anvil and will likely outlast its owners. Ya done good! Now get shootin' and tell us more.

Congrats on the wheel gun, in the market myself. I am heavily debating between a Ruger or S&W, but it will be 3-4" and 357 mag.
Oh and this thread could really use a pic of that new beauty.

Looked up the serial number made in 1980.
Most solid gun in my hand I have ever shot.
I own Glock and S & W.
