Engraving the slide on my kahr CW9, any thoughts?

Well as the title says, I would really like to get some engraving on my kahr Cw9, but I have a few questions,

1. Will whatever the slide is made out of handle the engraving?

2. Will this decrease the value of the gun? Or is the "cheap" kahr even worth getting engraved? (As opposed to say my glock or a 1911)

3. Do any of you fellas or lady's have any idea how much some minimal engraving would cost?

Much depends on what type of engraving you want. If you are just looking for a monogram or or a "spot" engraving or lettering I would go for LASER engraving.

If you personalize the gun with engraving (like say with your initials) then naturally that would affect the value...nobody wants a gun with initials belonging to somebody else unless you are Jesse James or John Dillinger.
The value of your firearm could slightly increase or it could decrease depending on if a buyer wants it on there or not.

For floral scroll work and full or partial coverage nothing beats hand engraving by a talented master engraver. But, that gets quite expensive.
Beautifully hand engraved firearms always sell for more money...sometimes so much more $$$ that there are limited numbers of buyers who would be interested. Generally super high quality hand engraving would probably not be done on a Kahr.

The LASER engraving will be exactly as good as your original art work. LASER lettering is always perfect since since high quality type fonts are used for the engraving.

Any gun slide can handle either type of engraving.

Adding a USMC EGA will add value, if you sell it to a Marine later. Just sayin................ (no bias on this statement what so ever)

I sent a CZ-82 slide off to Lone Wolf to have my son's name, grade and unit laser engraved on it and his EOD and Dive Officer specialty badges on the grip. If I recall it ran about $100 total, not including shipping. Turned out great.

Thank you guys! Sorry it took so long! If I was going to get it engraved by a master engraver I'd splurge on a colt 1911 THEN get it engraved. I really like the laser engraving idea, all I really want is to customize it a little bit, just to make it MINE.
