Thinking about getting my first .45
So, for the first time I'm considering picking up a .45 handgun. For this gun I'm looking for a full sized handgun for home defense and range use. High round count is important (Yes, I love 1911's, but they don't quite meet the needs for this purchase). I'm very partial to Glocks, and am considering the glock 21. However all that being said I'd like your suggestions! Looking to spend less than $700.
Thanks!
Clay

Hard to go wrong with a Glock 21 or an M&P 45.
I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it.

I have the Glock30 and FNP45. Both are outstanding but the Glock is a very sweet carry gun.

H&k usp 45
An alternative to the Glock 21 is the H&K USP 45, which is similar to the Glock in size and weight, and holds 12+1 rounds. It gives you an external hammer with decocker, in contrast to the Glock's striker. Mine has performed very well for the 10 years I have owned it. The cost is higher than the Glock, however.

M&P FS is a good shooter. Similar to the glock of course in that striker fired

I was gonna suggest the Springfield XDs, but you said home defense and range... While the XDs pistol excels as a carry .45 it's low round count and kick would lower it for the use you have specified. After my recent Glock 19 Gen 4 purchase, I'd say that if Glock has made the same improvements to the .45 version, I don't think you could ask for a better weapon for either option, range, or home defense.. Certainly worth consideration. just my .2 cents

I would vote for the Glock 21. Although you have picked a bad time to decide to buy a new one. I see where Glocks have gone up a 100 bucks at Bud's gun shop.

I just purchased a Gen 4 Glock 21.......Bam! Very soft shooting, 13+1, 3 mags, and Glock reliability. The suckers exudes confidence when you pick it up.
The Ruger MKIII 22/45 is the worst handgun in history to take apart, but is one of the funnest to shoot...

Glock 30 with G21 mags for backup and home duty. More concealable, unless you just want full-sized.

I chuckle because I have to remind myself that people on DC purchase guns focused on CC. I paved that road years ago, now I just add what I want to my collection.
