    FNX-9 vs FNX-45

It's tax time, which means adding a new piece to the arsenal. I have settled on the FNX series but I am still debating if I should go to the 9mm or get the .45ACP. The 9mm has a 17 round magazine and weighs in around 22oz empty, whereas the 45 is a 15 round capacity but it weighs over 33oz empty. I carry a 1911 now and primarily stick to .45 so weight isn't too much of an issue. The reason I need some advice is because in my experience double stack .45s tend to be too bulky for my small size to conceal well, as I am only 5'7" and about 135lbs. I am hesitant to switch to a 9mm just because of my own 45 junkie stigma, but I need a push in the right direction as to whether I should get the lighter slightly easier to conceal model or go with what I know and adapt to effectively conceal the .45. Any help is appreciated greatly.

I would think Montana weather allows ample oppertunity to wear garments able to conceal large handguns.

As long as you're able to operate the .45 version effectively, I'd say go with that.

I carry a FNP40 in my rotation, it is about the same size as a the FNX 45. It's concealable but it is a full size handgun. I would go withy the 45 if it was me. Good luck finding one.

If you've already got a 1911, get the FNX-9. Variety is the spice of life!

If you want something different grab a 9mm it's a little smaller and cheaper to shoot. If you are a die hard .45 man then grab the .45 and have at it.

I have the FNX 9. Its one of the most ergonomic pistols i've ever held. The .45 is a little chunkier, but not as bad as a Glock 21 IMO. That said, I will be adding an FNX 45 at some point. Both are great pistols. Both have pro's and con's. My answer is get both

I do like the answer of get both. I am actually selling my 1911 to a friend as I will be procuring a SA Lightweight Operator later down the road. I think for now I am going to get the 9mm since it is smaller and I will be going home at the end of the year, and we all know how excited MA gets about those of us that carry.

A buddy of mine has the FNP-45 tactical and I consider it to be the mother of all ass kicking pistols. I would never consider actually CARRYING the thing as it it massive but if my bacon were on the line I can't imagine anything better than 15+1 rounds of .45 goodness on tap. I'm honestly surprised that every LEO in the country isn't carrying one.
