Actually, they have been using 1911s for quite a while. Kimbers if I recall. These are simply to replace those that have worn out. I was a little surprised the USMC did not select the cheaper and, IMHO better suited, HK MK24....marking the first time in nearly 30 years that Colt pistols will accompany Marines into combat...

I don't think the price for the "civilian" is out of line for a Colt. I like it but I am not a fan of the rail on 1911s I have a 1911 with a rail and never use the rail. It don't fit in my holsters so it needs a special holster. I can see the rail for the troops. but not for me. Nice looking new product.
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

That's a sweet pistol. Looks sharp, great color.
But for the same money, I'd rather have the IWI Tavor Bullpup Carbine being revealed at Shot Show.

I guess all the MEU(SOC) pistols that are built on Colt frames don't count.
Hate to see it happen. Now the current administration is going to be classifying 1911's as a assault weapon and want to ban them from civilian sales.
