Do you/would you carry a gun in .40?
I carry an M&P Shield in 40 S&W. I chose 40 because its a nice hot medium weighted round. A pleasant side effect of owning and carrying a forty is the ammo availability. I am finding plenty of 40S&W ammunition at places that 9mm and .45acp are sold out. So that is great for me. All the PD depts in our area carry 40's and most Police in the US are being issued 40's. So availability in a SHTF senario should prove to be fruitful. Though not the cheapest round to plink with but certainly not the priciest.

I currently carry a Beretta 9mm, but if everything works out I maybe picking up a Glock 27 soon. I've owned .40S&W before and shot lots of it. It's a good round. If I get the Glock 27 I'm going to look into the 9mm conversion barrel and .357 Sig barrel to go along with it.

My EDC is an SR40C. I have carried .40 subcomopact and did not like it. The .40 is too snappy for a lightweight but is great in a slightly heavier weapon.

I have full size and sub compact Glocks in both 9mm and 40 S&W. I usually carry one of the 9mms because I can shoot them a little better and quicker. But if I'm feeling a little wiffy about things and want a bit more thump, I pack a 40. If I'm just plain old nervous, I keep a 12 gauge pump close by.

I EDC a .40 ( glock 23). If you are going to trust your life to a bullet, I would rather that bullet have more stopping power and larger expansion.

Think of it this way, stopping power is a myth. a .357mag has failed to stop many. There are some who were so pumped up on drugs a .45acp failed.
Bullets will fail, train for failure. In other words...shot placement. Not every bullet will expand and very few will expand like you see in ballistic gel tests. Just something to think about. The .40sw is good but it's not magic.

In pistols 9mm and 10mm. Why get a .40 when you can get a 10mm.

Cause 10mm is too expensive for many to train properly with.

Got a PX4 Storm sub compact in .40, a Glock or two in .40, I do carry it from time to time but not much. My preferred carry caliber is .357sig.

Because I have yet to see the stores in my area adopt a decent supply of 10mm ammo!

I carry 9mm or 38 in my subbie.I shot the 40 cal it's o.k. but I own mostly 9mm,45 in semi auto's When I want more getty up
there's nothing like my bulldog 44sp made famous in 1977
as son of sam.Seriously,I don't get caught up in calibers as I own most of the pistol rounds calibers. It comes down to practice and shot placement!
