Sig 226 .357
Almost forgot Baretta Bobcat for a BUG and a Ruger security six for a wheel.
I don't and probably never will. I prefer my pistols in the 9mm flavor, if I want bigger I'll switch to .45 ACP.
That being said, I voted "I don't, but I would." I'd probably never choose to carry a .40 but if that's all I had to work with, that's what I'd carry.
Glock 23 with a grip reduction done by Coldbore Customs and nite sights is my carry gun most of the time.
The first time I shot a .40 I hated it. It was someones M&P and I was new to pistols. I manage it the G23 pretty well now with Federal Hydra-Shoks in 165grain. It's also my nightstand gun.
I carried a .40 229 for years and then picked up a G17 and have barely carried the .40 since.
I now prefer the extra rounds and faster follow up shots in the 9mm platforms than the .40 versions.
Thanks for all of the responses and explanations, and for participating in the poll.
One of the primary reasons I'm thinking of a .40 is because I can actually find ammo. Every other caliber is difficult to come by in these parts. I figure if I was going to add another pistol to the rotation, a .40 would be ideal.
My friend just got a CZ in .40, and I'll be trying it out on Friday. We'll see how I like it considering I've never shot a .40 before.
I purchased a full size 1911 .45 to use as my carry pistol, so yes I would buy a .40. Reason I bought the .45 was because its the only gun I have ever wanted, If I did not go with that choice I would of looked into a Kahr .40 (CW I think) I say buy what works for you, Funtion over style has always been my motto.
After my latest trips to the LGSs in my area, .40 cal might be the only choice available to first time buyers in search of an edc semi-auto hi-cap.
I don't carry a .40 but I would.
I alternate my EDC carry gun between a PPS and a Glock 23. I really wanted a Glock 19 but I waited too long to get one before all the panic buyers bought them all up. So I went with the 23 and I'm happy I did. I can shoot just as well with it and it doesn't hurt to have a little more stopping power. Although I think a 9mm is plenty sufficient. Besides, I just know as soon as I see a Glock 19 on the shelf I'm gonna buy it on the spot and probably start carrying it instead of the 23.
But yeah, I carry a .40 and will continue to do so.
G23 here. 1911 is my first, but I do still sometimes carry the G23. It depends on what the plan for the day is. I mean, I trust the Glock in the salt spray and such much more.
I don't hate the .40 but with a 9mm and a .45 already I just don't feel any need for one.
I carry a .40 every now and then but normally I carry a 10mm Glock 29 loaded with very hot Underwood Ammo. The 10 just packs so much punch at 1600 f/s with 787 fp that I know if I have to shoot, it will do the trick.
