I never shot the 40 before. Last year while looking for a G36 (which wasn't in stock) I held a G22 and I liked how it felt in hand. I almost bought it but I'm a die hard 45 fan.

But if I had no other choice than to carry a 40 I would and just see if the recoil is "snappy" like I heard/read.

I switch off my carry pistol from the .40 Beretta PX4 SC to the Kahr CM9 with +P ammo. I am very happy with each.

Tried it a while back and didn't really like .40.

IMHO only two other calibers I like better then the 40sw. The 45GAP but it hasn't taken off good and the best all around performer the 357 Sig.
The police are not there to protect you from crime, they are there to arrest the guy after the crime has been committed, assuming they find him. It is your responsibility to protect yourself and your family.

I have a glock 32 .357sig but may buy a .40 barrel for it since ammo is easily found. Not a fan of the .40 but love my .357.

40 is too snappy for my liking. I just shoot better with 45.

I carry a SIG P226 in .40 and have no recoil issues. Shoots ragged holes all day long

It is little snappy but not in any way uncontrollable. I like it and carry My G23 more than anything else. If you can find someone near you who has one, I encourage you to try it.

I voted no; only because if I was going to go to anything .4 I would add the .05 (.45). Why not have the power of a .45 if you are buying something new.

    Back in 1992, I started carrying a S&W 4006 with 180 grain Black Talons.

Somewhere along the way, I tried various loads down to 135 grains, and finally settled on 155 Hydra-shoks.

A few years ago I switched up to a Gen 4 Glock 23.

I've really known no other defensive handgun caliber...

    I currently don't have a .40. I do have a 45acp, 45 colt, 44 spl, 357 mag, 38 spl, 9mm, and .380. Thinking about getting rid of the 380 for another 9mm.

The 44 specials are my current EDC.

Been thinking about adding the 40, with all the Fed agencies and police agencies using them. Been looking hard at the Glock 23, but are considering others as well.
