Do you/would you carry a gun in .40?

I'm a 9mm fan but am thinking of throwing a .40 into the mix. I figure I'll go with a Glock model of some kind, or even a S&W M&P40C since I have one in 9mm.

Do you carry a .40? If so, which? And why a .40 over any other caliber?

Would you carry a .40? Why or why not?

    Thanks!

If I had one I would. I think too many gets wrapped around the axle as to caliber. I've shot my son's G22 and it didn't seem much different than my G30 .45. Neither did his .357 SIG. So whatever caliber one chooses, the secret is . . . practice.

I switched from a .40 carry firearm to a 9mm. I can see some validity to the .40 caliber but unless I was working in some capacity where I could carry a couple of extra mags, I can't see any reason to switch back.

I went to buy a 9mm Glock a couple days ago, but they didnt have any 9mm ammo. So I left with the .40 ammo for my S&W. I couldnt use 9mm if I wanted too.

I am not a big fan of the .40 because I find it to be snappy. I would rather have the same gun in 9mm or have a different gun in .45. Having said that, the recent ammo shortage has made me want to add a .40, because at every store I went to they had .40 but no 9mm or .45. Ditto when I went to the LGS and all they had left were .40's, .38's, and 3 Glock 36's. Now I was all set for ammo and guns, but I was paying attention to how it all went down.

I have carried many different weapons, most often a S&W 38 spl J frame but I do
have a 40 cal & a 9 mm that I switch back and forth depending on circumstances.

I carry a 40 and at times a 45. 40 only gives up maybe a round in high cap versions. bigger hole and snappy recoil doesnt bother me. Ammo is easier to find too vs 9mm now days.
All that said I prefer 357 but I dont have one right now though that is soon to be corrected.

I would except I do not want to have to add an additonal caliber to my ammunition inventory. Currently it is just .380, 9mm and .45 for my EDC's.

I like the 40. I have a SIG 229 along with a barrel for 357 SIG. Yes, it is snappy, but with practice it is not bad. My alternate carry is a Colt 357 snubbie and it is pretty snappy in its own right.

On some occasions I have been known to carry a Kahr CW40 or Beretta 96 and even sometimes carry the daddy of the 40, a Colt Delta Elite in 10MM.

My EDC is the M&P .40 FS. I like snappy! I carry the .40 unless I get dressed up and can't conceal it well.

XD40 much of the time. 642 .38 when the XD isn't feasible.
