The world is your oyster. You can get almost anything for that - except H&K or the metal Sigs.
In no particular order:
Glock
Sig
M&P
XD
I suggest you go to a gun store that has a good selection and hold a few without buying anything. If there is a store in your area that rents guns, try a few out. Develop an opinion on what you like, then buy that.

For pocket carry...hard to beat Kimber Solo. Sweet trigger, accurate, easily concealable.
For something a little bigger, hard to beat the Walther PPS. Nice trigger, accurate, the new James Bond gun.
IMO.
Kimber Solo 9mm, Walther PPS 9mm
Kel Tec PF9 9mm, Ruger LCR .38
Maverick 88 Tactical 12 ga shotgun at bedside

try out the glock 30. I love mine

Hammer or striker? DA or SA? Steel or polymer? Auto or revolver? Caliber preference?
cc maybe pocket size .40 or .45 or even 10mm at lest holding 7 to 8 rounds id like a external hammer gun shops around here have very few to chose from right now kinda want a glock but never even held one not be to interested in them ive been looking at the g29 10mm but im really not sure
I have three suggested guns...they're all Glocks...but I am a bit biased.
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Right now, if its like shops around here buy the gun that you find in a gun store.

Pocket size and 8 rounds of .45 don't go together very well - unless you have really big pockets. In .40 it might be possible - I think Kahr makes some smaller guns in .40 but I don't know if they're in your price range - and getting anything that holds even 7 rounds of .40 in your pocket will be a lot easier than getting it out of your pocket in a hurry.
Glocks don't have an external hammer. In fact, neither do the XD, M&P or Kahr.
I'm confused by the rest.
A Glock 29 is about $500-600 new. Add a few extra mags and some ammo and your budget is spent.
Hope this helps....

Glock 26 would be my choice. If you don't like the Glock ergos check out the M&P C or XDM C models.
Agree with this... spend the extra and get a 1911... Kimber, Springfield, Colt... Even the new Ruger SR1911 and SR1911 Compact are around the 800-900 range at most places(although hard to find in stock at the moment)..
If 700 is your max, then Glock, M&P, XD would be my recommendations, and of course in .45:)
