Both have their place, I only have 1 poly gun a HK 45C and I do love it. My carry guns are SIG P series metal framed guns.

I have both; my EDC is steel, Para-Ordnance P-14 double stack 1911 I carry it and 2 spare mags all day every day. Now if I am doing something that might damage my sidearm (mostly when it's going to get wet) I'll carry one of the Glocks. Hard to explain but I just like the steel 1911.

I love all steel guns for shooting but for carrying purposes I prefer poly they are lighter and usually smaller which makes a good conceal

Metal for home defense and the range, and polymer for carrying. I like them both.

It's like asking if I'm a pizza guy or a steak guy. I'm both!

My preference is for all-metal, yes. The few I have carried have generally been all-steel or forged-alum, heavier than their similarly-sized polymer/plastic counterparts. I tend to find them a bit more ergonomic (for me), and find the added weight tends to help manage recoil better.

That said, I've had a few polymer/plastic variants from time to time.

I appreciate blue steel and wood. However, after a 16 or more hour day, the Glocks weight is even felt.

And, I appriciate the inherent durability of the Glock with respect to corrosion resistance and when maintenance is neglected because of extreme abusive that comes with really using and carrying a piece.

Also, the in and out of my holster all day as I store it in gun boxes at various institutions would really show wear and dings on a nice steel guns.

It's hard not to love a poly gun when you really, really, put a gun thru the ringer everyday, and 10 years later it still looks good and works just as well as it did at the time of issue.

I like them both, but even polymer/plastic firearms have quite a bit of steel in them.

Re: Anyone else prefer metal guns over polymer?

I'm 26 so I didn't have to transition between metal and polymer. Both were available and I have shot both. You can make polymer very pretty. It's hard plastic and you can hole it to do just about anything. I just prefer the weight and refinement of a high quality metal gun. I am a sig-o-philiac, so I might be biased here..... But even their polymers don't really don't like the feel we much

It varies gun by gun. I don't have an aversion either way. It just depends on how I like the specific model and how loud it is calling to me.

I have both, Reminton 1911 .45 and a Ruger SR40c. The .40 is my EDC and I am more accurate with it on the range. Probably because I shoot it more. The .45 is large and heavy and hard for me to hide..but it is a blast to take to the range..

Thanks guys alot of good imput here. As I stated in my opening post I'm not against poly just prefer metal. But my opinion could change down the road because I do not live where I can actually carry on my person. If that ever changes here I very well may have a different look at it.

It depends on the gun. I like steel revolvers and 1911's and polymer pistols.
