Ok I'm just curious here. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with poly guns so please dont take it that way. But for whatever reason when I hold a gun theres just something about a metal gun that to me feels so much nicer. Anytime I make the comment to friends or other that I really would prefer not to have a polymer gun I get read the riot act and treated like I'm a complete idiot. Am I the only odd ball out there that prefers the heavy outdated metal guns?
Call me old school if you wish but guns should be made of metal and holsters of leather. Of all of the handguns I own I only have three made of plastic, two Kel-Tecs and one Kahr. All of the rest are steel and one alloy gun.
Nope, being fond of metal framed guns is not a sign of mental retardation. But I've gotta' ask, do your friends treat you like you're a complete idiot about other subjects? 'Cause then know you better than...we do. :biggrin2:
What do kids have to do with it? I actually prefer the sound of their heads bumping the steel butt of my guns on my hip when they run into me at full speed
Browning/FN Hi-Power fan here. There's just that tough-to-verbalize...something. Kinda' like describing love-at-first-sight, or in this case...first-front-sight.
I have owned a polymer p250 and traded it for an all metal p229. What if I told u I like the p229 better? O have shot numerous polymer and metal guns. I prefer metal because I like the weight and it just feels sturdier. The sound of a metal slide on a metal frame sticks with u. What a beautiful sound.....
Those p229 are sweet. Thats on my to get list someday. I have looked at those p229 for a few years now.Right now a Beretta 96fs is on layaway for a few more weeks.
I love an all metal gun, especially in revolver format. That much said, I love poly guns too. In fact I generally love firearms as a whole. It just depends on the gun and mood I suppose. I love the feel of my PPQ over my 1911, I love the feel of my 1911 over my Sig Mosquito, and I'd take my S&W .44 any day over all of them in terms of pure "feels good" tactile feedback.
Only a single ratty Kel Tec P3AT serves as an example of the plastic tribe here.
I'm not even too keen on the aluminum alloy in the frame of the Smith & Wesson Model 642, the upper and the lower of the Colt AR15, and the trigger guard of the Ruger 77V and those are the only firearms around here featuring aluminum alloy components.
I think it's the result of an allergy to plastic and aluminum.
I prefer a metal gun, although I do have a poly that I usually carry on work days. Not because it is better, just less weight on the belt.
