Finally got my license
So I have recently turned 21 and got my carry license. Next week I am going to my local gun store to try their guns but I want to hear he opinions from the members here. So from shooting my dad's limited collection, I know I definitely want .45 as that is the caliber I have grown to love shooting. I am pretty skinny, 5'10 and 140 lbs, and live in warm south Georgia so I am thinking that I need a pretty skinny gun. I do not want any that carry less than 7 rounds, not including the 1 in the barrel, and I do not want a 1911 even though they are sexy guns. Any suggestions from what I have said?

Well there goes my suggestion. Welcome from Utah.

Glock 36, but it has substantial recoil, good luck!

Thanks for the quick replies! Well it looks like any skinny .45 will only hold 6+1 excluding the 1911. Well if I am going to get one then I am thinking the xds would be nice. Anybody have 1 and can comment on what they think of the gun?
Also how big is the P220? They are very nice looking and hold 8 rounds but I have not seen one in person yet.

You want a skinny .45 ACP with more than 7 round magazine but don't what a 1911. You've pretty well eliiminated the .45 altogether. Glock 36 is a good choice but is only 6+1. It's rcoil is moderate.

If the trigger/safety combination is your only problem with 1911's, consider the Para Ordnance LDA (light double-action), Colt New Agent, or Colt 1991 series.
H&K USP Compact .45 might also be an option. At 1.14" thick, it's narrower than Glock 19 and a half-inch shorter.

I carry a Walther PPS .40.
Don't count out the Bersa BPCC. Low price and underrated.

Re: Finally got my license
HK45c, if you can find it. Soft shooting, 8+1, very concealable.

Hmm...and the para doesn't have the trigger/safety of other 1911's? I might have to take a look. And the hk45c looks perfect.

I have flat floor plates for the mags now. Makes it even better. I'm an old South Georgia boy myself, grew up in Cairo. Live in Central Florida now.

Since almost any handgun can be concealed with a certain amount of creativity the choice is unlimited. With an IWB holster, a fairly loose T shirt left untucked you can cover any size.
You can experiment by putting a brick in your pants & walk around in front of a mirror to see how much it shows. (joke, lol)

I actually think the glock 30 could work. Would it be hard to hide its fatness when wearing a t shirt and shorts? And i still like he idea of the hk45c. If i did get a 6 rounder it looks like a glock 36 or xds would be perfect.
