    I had a 4-5/8" Blackhawk and later a 6-1/2" BH, both for intended field carry and hunting. I don't consider "handy" a prerequisite for a hunting handgun, carried the longer BH conveniently in a shoulder holster and found it to be much more accurate than the shorter BH. If you like the 66 for its intended purpose, I'd stick with the longer barrel for hunting and save up for a new carry gun in whatever caliber you decide on.

    Good advice! I have a stainless 617 and it makes an excellent carry piece especially when I'm out fishing. 5 rnds. of snake shot and 2 rnds. of .357 mag. hydroshocks for snakes and alligators, 2 or 4 legged.
