Given just the make and model, which do you think is more desirable and reliable for carry? Thanks all.
    Depends.
On a lot factors, but if all is actually equal. I would go for the Colt.
It is just hard to beat a good old "Colt .45" in any style. IMHO (Even at the beer store... ;) )

If it were my decision I'd buy the Kimber, or ask for a discount if you bought both. Both are fine pistols, though I like the Ultra Raptor II size for daily carry better than the Commander size.

I own both, love both, and I'm pretty much a "This AND That" kind of guy. :)

Good luck & post pictures once done please.

As a Kimber owner and fan of Kimber, I would choose the Colt. Nothing wrong with Kimber but I think the Colt will have a better resale. However depending on the upgrades, could sway me.

I would handle both and go witht he one that feels the best to you. The Kimber Tactical Pro isnt a beauty pageant gun, it is a functional carry gun, so holster wear and use should be expected. I have shot a tactical pro and it was great, but I am sure the colt is just as awesome. Ask your LGS to field strip both and see which one has less internal wear and go witht hat one. either way you should end up with a great gun thjat will hold a decent resale value.

It wouldn't even be a question in my mind. Grab the Colt. But, first ask if there have been any other modifications made to it aside from the grips and the sights.

Specifically - you probably would not want to purchase a home gunsmithing attempt by some previous owner.

Ask if the dealer if he can hand cycle some snap caps through it for you just to make certain that it does not have any feed issues.

Between the choice of the Kimber and the Colt. No thinking involved, go with the Pony.
