Yes, $900 seems inflated ... but go with the Colt.

I have a Kimber Ultra carry II and a colt gov.model. the Kimber out shoots the colt even though the colt has a longer barrel. I would have to chose the Kimber. I like the colt but I love and carry the Kimber.
