    Should I trade a Springfield XD-9 for a Glock 36?

Ok, I have been offered to trade my Springfield XD-9 for a Glock 36. Let me start off by saying that I like my XD, but its a little big for concealed carry in some situations. I also like the 9mm round, but also like the .45 ACP too. Now, here is what I am thinking. I tend to like Glocks better. I can get a Glock 19 to replace the XD. I can get the Glock 19 for less than Glock 36 because the 36 is usually about $30-$50 more than the lower caliber models. I think I can come out on top with this. I know that .45 ACP ammunition is more costly to practice with, but I can practice trigger time with a 9mm Glock and carry the .45ACP Glock and practice with an acceptable amount of ammunition To be a little easier on my wallet.

What do you Glock guys and gals think? Yay or nay?

I would do the trade for the G36. From what you are saying, it seems like there may be instances where you are not carrying because your XD is too big.

Staying out of the XD vs Glock debacle that is about to take place here - I'd say, based on your explanation of wants and needs, they seem like a good reasons to trade. With that said, be prepared for the the GLOCK/XD is superior blather that's about to come your way. For the record, I like and appreciate both for what they are...good, solid, reliable firearms. You can't go wrong either way.

I know folks with begin the debate. I am actually a Glock person, i just bought the XD, because a Glock wasn't available. The XD is a great gun, I just prefer the grip angle of a Glock and the shear simplicity.

Well sounds like you answered your own question with your last post. Get the G36. You can't go wrong with 45 ACP.

Even though I don't per-say "drink the Glock-juice", I say do the deal. Seems like you're already set on the g36.. go with what you like!

I have an XD-9 Service that I'd love to trade for a Glock 36 or even a XD-9SC. I'll probably end up putting a flashlight on it and keeping it next to the bed at night now that I have a Nano or my 1911 Compact for EDC. I tried the XD-9 and it's big with the upgraded sights and full size grip + width. I'd rather carry a .45 anyway.

Sounds like it is what you want, and more suited for your needs. I do not like Glocks, but bought an XD because of its similarities to Glocks.

Too bad you've already found some poor schmuck to take your XD9. I would have gladly taken the offending pistol off your hands and dealt with it accordingly ;). All kidding aside, it sounds like a very good deal. The G36 sounds like it will suit your needs and wants perfectly. The only concern is replacing the XD9 to fill the vacancy, and you've already decided on the 19 to fill that niche. The Glock 19 and 36 will keep each other company very nicely.

keep the high cap XD and buy the G36 later if you have to have it. I doubt the Glock 36 with its 6+1 capacity will be affected by any pending gun legislation and will
be available at a later date. The XD with its 16 round mag capacity may become a dinosaur if Obama and Feistein have their way.

....and good luck finding a Glock 19 right now. I have looked everywhere in Orlando for another to replace the one my daughter took. One gun store was charging $700
and I said NO THANKS.....all others are gone, gone, gone.

Have you tried shooting the G36? I love mine. It is accurate and seems to have the same subjective recoil feel that I get from my G19. It is easy to maintain, easy to carry and you can add a magazine extension - if you like- to bring the capacity up a bit. I think you would do quite well in the trade.

    Cool Glock 19

Love my Glock 9-19. Perfect for side or concealed carry. Not too big, not too small. I use Remington 147 gr. hollow point self defense rounds. Always double-tap!

I'd trade in a heartbeat, but then I'm extremely biased.
The '36' is my EDC with five siblings in the safe.

Would you rather ride in a VW bug or a Mercedes? Go with the Glock!!!

BTW retsupt99 and I are in the same bias boat.
