It might be a Shield, but it is still an M&P.
I paid less for the Storm Lake barrel than I did for my factory 40 barrel.
I bought my Storm Lake barrel from another member of a S&W forum for $75 shipped. Accuracy and reliability are both equal to or better than both of my factory S&W barrels, and I have shot far more 9mm rounds through my M&P than both 40 and 357 combined.
I realize that perception is reality, but I feel that it's one of my best $75 purchases ever made.
Honestly, the barrel has paid for itself several times in reduced ammo costs alone. 357sig is fun to shoot and it's what I use for self defense, but 9mm costs about half as much.
I'm looking into getting a .357 barrel for my newly acquired G27, I've toyed with the idea in the past for my M&P40, but went with the 9mm for ammo cost, have recently gone back to .40 largely based on ammo access/allocation. The 9c is my primary carry piece right now.
I have 2 M&P45's a full-size and the compact. The full-size is getting a Cerakote bath this week. I will be picking it up next weekend, when I get it back I will post pics of the 2 together.

My M&P 40c in the Remora 6ART-SS with new Remora-Hyde leather liner.
My EDC: Uncle Mike's Reinforced Instructors Belt, M&P 40c, S&W Bodyguard 380 (BUG), KA-BAR TDI knife, Kershaw Leek, 2 spare 40 mags with X-Grip adaptor.
I also carry the M&P in a CrossBreed SuperTuck Shorty with Horsehide every once in a while but mainly use the Remora.
I recently added an M&P45C to the defense line-up. Very nice gun. Just needs a better trigger.
“Inequality" is a law of nature, not something government can "re-distribute”. The fit, well-educated, hard-working will prosper. And the unfit will not. It is not the responsibility of those who work hard and prosper to make the lives of those who do not, more “equal."
