Show and Tell: Glock 36
I wrote in another post that I had the opportunity to trade a Springfield XD-9 Service for a Glock 36. I ended up taking the trade, because in a few months I will be able to get a Glock 19 or 17 to replace the Springfield. I plan on using the 9mm to do 75% of my practice, the other 25% will be the .45 ACP, which will also be my carry gun.
I thought I would have some trouble finding ammunition and another magazine for the Glock, but I was able to get plenty of FMJ, a couple boxes of Hornady Critical Duty, and a 3rd magazine. I will be heading to the range tomorrow afternoon to give the G36 a good breaking in. I also will be trying out my new GoPro Hero3 so I will have some nice video.
I gave the Glock a few modifications to make it "my" gun. I polished the chamber, feed ramp, trigger connector bar, and sear. I undercut the trigger guard to fit my middle finger higher and stippled the grip. I also have a Punisher slide plate coming in just for looks and a Ghost Rocket 3.5 pound trigger connector with the 6 pound striker spring. This is going to be my carry gun from now on. At least until Glock comes out with something better.
Until I post my range report, enjoy this Glock porn.

Nice. You made a good trade IMHO.
I am just curious, did you fire the gun before you did all that polishing? What performance difference do you expect?

No, I haven't fired it yet. The polishing just takes the grittiness out of the trigger and aids in feeding and extracting. The big difference is when I get the new spring and connector bar. That will take the pretravel out of the trigger and reduce the pull weight.

Very nice. Personally, I don't go in for all that stippling buy, hey, it's your gun not mine. Other than that, I say have fun!
I find that the G 19 makes the better "trainer" to complement the 36. The 17 balances just a bit differently and doesn't point quite the same as th 36. For point shooting the 19 and 36 are nearly identical.
Good deal. Enjoy it.

Congrats on a fine trade. I keep my Glocks pretty stock, only changing sights.
The Glock-36 makes a great EDC...it's been mine for almost 3 years now.

I might have to try the undercut on mine. I never carry my 36, but I just ordered some Pearce +1 grip extensions for it and perhaps that will make it a better fit for me.

I recently picked up my second g36. I have never had a single problem of any sort and really like this model for concealment and power. They are dead on accurate and 100% reliable in my own experience.

I don't know about messing with the trigger, but it's your gun. Enjoy your range session.

Congrats on the new gun. Just my opinion, but why do people modify their gun before they first shoot it? You might like it just the way it is stock.
