Front sight upgrade for Ruger LCR .38 Special

    Greetings All!

Looking for opinions from Ruger LCR owners on the best and most durable front sight upgrade. Anyone have the Hi-Viz fiber optic upgrade or the Trijicon upgrade. If so what do you think about them? I've read the Trijicon is the
best for low light and even no light situations. Also more durable than Hi-Viz for CCW.

I second the XS big dot. I just ordered a set for my Ruger SR40C and cannot wait for them to get here.

I had the XS sight on my LCR and it made a huge difference. XS is a great sight.

What I like about it is that it takes about 5 minutes to remove the old sight and install the new sight.

I installed the XS Big Dot on my KLCR .357mag and really like it. Not only increased sight access when moving, it increased my accuracy also when used as directed. Recommend them highly.

Bought my LCR almost a year ago, came with the XS front sight. Was
a big factor in buying that day. What an improvement over the stock
    sight !

Several new LCR owners were at the range one day, complaining about
how their POI was awful. I asked to see theirs, they had stock sights.
I cleared mine and handed it to them ... the look on their face brought
a smile and their comment ... I can see the front sight ! I think by now
they may have a sight upgrade.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

It's not too bad but the pin can be stubborn, both in getting the old one out and the new one in. I found the little punch that came with my XS Standard Dot sight to be worthless and had to use one of my own punches. The job is easy enough but a vice is a must. That's my experience. YMMV.

    Interesting, from the xs website:

    FAQ # 23

Q: When will you have a Big Dot front sight for the Ruger LCR?

A: Sorry, this one isn’t going to happen.

In our developmental testing, we found that the tiny rear sight notch just didn’t provide enough of a rear sight reference to allow a Big Dot to work properly. Our test shooters were reporting that at least half of them couldn’t decent accuracy with the Big Dot prototypes on the LCR which was very odd since these shooters were getting great results on some S&W snub nose “J” frame projects we were working on a the same time. In checking over the LCR’s we found nothing wrong with them, but that the rear sight notch in the fame was shallower than the rear sight found on the S&W “J”’s.
It provided more than enough reference to allow a Standard Dot to work well, just not the Big Dot. There isn’t an easy way to improve the rear notch so we are left only being able to offer the Standard Dot. While it hasn’t the speed or acquisition that the Big Dot has, it is still a huge improvement over the factory plain black blade.
When the new website was launched somehow the fact we weren’t going to ever be able to offer a Big Dot got lost in translation between the two tech departments.

Thanks all for your response and photos. Looks like a great upgrade! Clarkston_cz, what kind of holster is that in the very first photo you posted?
