    Range & Holster review: FNP-9 & Dunn's Evolution Holster

Well I finally got to it. I got this FNP-9 at the 2006 Florida State match's raffle and I am in love with the darn thing. Lightweight polymer frame and steel slide it shoots like a dream and has an amazingly tame recoil compared to other full steel 9mm's. The first pull of the trigger is a delightful double action (compared to the monster truck pull from my Cougar) and a crisp single action pull. No safety, just a decoking lever and very decent and visible sights for a gun coming from an "European" designer. Removable backstrap comes in 2 sizes and they are secured with a screw.
I've shot some matches with the gun and it is a joy to handle. Accurate and dependable. I have shot mags of mixed ammo (from reloads to hollow points) and the gun can't tell the difference 'cause it ate them all without a hiccup.
The three mags come in 16 rounds unless you live in a State that is nono. It has become my carry piece.

And now the Holster. Greg, I bet you were waiting for me to eamil you back to see if I got the holster, but I decided to notify you here

The Holster is Greg Dunn's Evolution reinforced mouth with tension screw. He was kind enough to answer my desperate need for a holster tailored for the FNP-9 and patient enough not to tell me to take a hike with my constant harrasment and extra details I wanted.

I got the holster today 15 minutes before I had to leave for work. Whe I opened the box and saw it size I was impressed...horribly. I thought it was going to feel like I was carrying a saddle on my side! But I decided to test it real life in order to have real data and not just a visual impresion. I still cannot believe how darn confortable that holster is! Once I put it on and stuck the gun in, I had to make sure I was carrying my gun. The holster distributes the weight of the gun so nice that you can barely tell and I found myself doing the elbow-checking-for gun thing on my way to work. I am still getting used to the cant but nothing to worry about.

Greg, thank you and than you. it is a great holster.

"Whe I opened the box and saw it size I was impressed...horribly. I thought it was going to feel like I was carrying a saddle on my side!"

"A saddle "- It's not that much bigger than the traditional pancake, and yes it does distribute the weight evenly and comfortably. Roughly the same size as similarly styled holsters.

I carry a Sig 226 in one all day everyday.

Thank you for the review and I am glad that you like the holster.

If light rails were needed on handguns John Browning would have included it on the 1911.

I am used to the Bianchi minimalist... this thing is the size of a 747 comparted to that.

Greg, it is a great holster my man. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you doing it for this weirdo in South Florida. I'll give you a full match report when I get back from Jacksonville's Match.

I've seen the FNP-9 in gun mags and wondered about them. Aren't they pretty expensive????

Great looking holster! Mr. Dunn do you have a website with some more pics of your work?

    Tony,

    www.rangergunleather.com

there is a photo gallery page as well as sprinkled throughout the site.

I am in the process of replacing some of the low res pics with better images and expanding the product line to include another IWB, a new "traditional" pancake, a duty holster series, and some new accessories as well.

Don't forget to check back I will be adding examples of my exotic skin work very soon.
