After a few months of range shooting I am impressed with the%100 function and better than average accurracy. Made pretty good and good hard forgings in the slide and barrel. No its not a $2000 custom 1911,but shoots and is made as well as any sub-$1000 clone from the other companys. Some don,t like the Taurus logo or grips, but I like the thin grips on the pt1911. And all clones stamp there bill board on there 1911 . Such as clone Kimbers,Springfields,STI,SW,Sig so why not Taurus? THe finish is a dull flat black. Which is pleasing to look at with no glare. But as with all blued steel type guns it will wear. I use a leather Don Hume silicone lubed holster and its been in and out at least 500 times. With no wear yet,but it will wear and in a few years a hard chrome finish will be in line. Whats new with blued steel guns. THe Pt1911 handles and shoots positive in the controls and sites. A very good combat 1911. We have a solid viable 1911 here for a fair price.
I had one on order with my local dealer for over a month... gave up waiting a week ago and took home a loaded SA. Spent a little more, but I'm happy with it. Still looking forward to seeing the Taurus, but in my area they're still not available.
I took mine to the range for the first time last week. It is one SWEET 1911, in all aspects. It went through it's first 100 rds (WWB) like a stressed pregnant woman thru chocolate. I think this is probably the best value in a 1911 on the market today.
Seems there hard to find now . All the dealers here have sold out and are not getting anymore to soon. One local dealer sold 24 of them and all customers have very good reports on them. Another dealer had 4 and they sold in a few days . Average price $479 to $499 with a increase on the way. Seems this lower price is a introduction offer to get the Pt1911 on the market.
I have a half page ad around here somewhere that extolls the virtues of the 1911C I believe it was called. Tried to look it up on the Taurus website and they have nothing on it. Great advertising! It was a Commander length, stainless steel with all the bells and whistles but I'll be whupt 'cause I can't find it anywhere.
