Colt 1911 suggestions Yep I am in the market!
I have been saving up my lunch money lost a few pounds and have some cash for a new Colt 1911. I am looking for your suggestions as to what model, new or used. I don't want a rail, thinking 5" not sure about other options. It will not be my EDC, I would carry it at times I have several 1911 holsters. It would get plenty of range time. Pictures or links would be great!
Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

The Ruger SR1911 is on my "to get" list. Read some reviews on it. Best bang for the buck as far as 1911s go I think.

I would say the Colt Commander but it is not a 5". I have a Kimber 4" that I really like.

You can never go wrong with a Colt 1991. Original, gains value, accurate and reliable.
Ignorance is a long way from stupid, but left unchecked, can get there real fast.

Colt 1911
I bought this as a carry piece. It fills that role very well. As you want a 5" model it is slightly different but still just as awesome. Glockman has a nice looking blued one, and OD probably has 20 of em.
My Pony. I love this gun. I carry it often and it shoots like a dream.

I had an issue when I first bought it that was fine tuned and it has seen 500+ trouble free JHP rounds since. For some reason it would fire the first round, but then act as if the safety was engaged. I would pull back on the cocked hammer, and it would then fire next time the trigger was pulled. A very single shot style of shooting. Polished the sear spring and has been flawless since.
Good luck! You WILL NOT regret a Colt 1911!

I would look for a good used Series 70. To me, and I have the both with and without the FPB, the 70 trigger is a bit nicer than the 80.
Chose a weapon that goes bang EVERY time!

Check out the XSE. I'm debating between the blued gov't length and a SW1911.

I was just looking at the colt models currently available, and based on their website I was unable to tell if any of their full size guns have checkering on the front grip? I don't have checkering on the front of my Kimber Ultra carry, and thats the one thing I wish I would have spent a little extra on. Does colt make any with checkering? You can't go wrong with any model, I just wish they made one with checkering and a bobtail.
I think guns are like insurance. I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

A 70-Series Lightweight Commander would be my choice if hunting for a SD/carry gun.
A Gold Cup National Match might be my choice, of looking for a range/fun gun.

Not exactly new - It's been out since, uh, about 1991.
