A single stack mag in .9mm would need to be 2 3/4 inches long just to hold 7 rounds.

My 26 mag is 3 inches.

What are you gaining with a single stack mag?

    Market share.

If done properly, a gain in market share and a loss in width.

How many Kimber Solos, Ruger LC9s, Beretta Nanos, Sig 938s, etc. do you think have been sold in the last few years? Do you think that Kimber, Ruger, Beretta, Sig and all of the other manufacturers would have spent the $$$ they have for R&D/marketing if there was no demand for single stacks chambered in 9mm?

I bet that Glock would be selling more than a few single stack 9mms if they made one sized like current offerings from their competitors.

Well, the typical argument for a single stack would be to have a thinner handle i.e. the Shield, less weight, and more comfort (supposed comfort, anyway). I'd have to see and handle this imaginary product before making judgment upon it.

Isn't a G26/G27 to Glock what a M&P compact is to S&W? About the same size gun. Using the logic of why Glock would produce a single stack pistol if they already have a sub-compact, tell that to S&W. They sold more Shields than they even thought they would I imagine. Glock could do the same but it is only going to be harder now because the market is being saturated with them. They're late to the game.

Folks, check the magazine construction on a Glock as compared to say...the Kahr. That's a major factor in making a comparable SSG (Single Stack Glock) IMNSH0. Questions? Comments? Snide remarks?

I have a G26 and I have a Shield. The Shield is quantum leaps more comfortable because of the thinness.
