Proud new owner of a Springfield XDs 9

After watching MAC's video review on the XDs 9 from Springfield Armory, I was interested in trying one for a possible new carry gun that is a little easier to conceal than my Glock 19. The biggest thing for me was giving up firepower in exchange for more concealment but since the chances of me needing to fire my gun in self defense and fire more than eight rounds is low, I gave it a shot. I fondled the XDs in .45 ACP a few months back but to me its too small for a .45 and wanted to wait for the 9mm. I probably won't be able to get out to the range until next month. I'm really looking forward to running this thing through its paces. If its reliable and accurate enough for me, just might become my new summer carry pistol.

    Sweetness defined.
I busted a mirror and got seven years bad luck, but my lawyer thinks he can get me five.

Congrats! But can't get to the range until next month? You live in Alaska... isn't everywhere "the range" in Alaska?

Maybe the OP lives in "downtown Alaska".

I live in Anchorage and we do have firing ranges but have to drive a bit.

Well, in my defense all my knowledge of Alaska comes from "Alaska State Troopers."

Anchorage is Alaska's largest urban area. There is a shooting range clear across town from where I live but their crappy rules more or less prevent me from going there. The range I do go to charges 20 dollars per visit and I need to buy more range ammo. I'm also sharing a vehicle and I can only use it a handful of times each month.

I just bought an XD-S 9mm this week and shot it Friday. It is my first handgun. I was surprised how accurate the gun was (me not having shot a pistol in +20 years). You can see my target in a previous post. I was shooting cheap Blazer aluminum cased rounds. The gun performed flawless. No problems at all. Enjoy.

XD's are good guns bottom line. HS Produkt of Croatia really know what they are doing!

I hear the .45 is pretty snappy. I've been looking to try one to see if my little wrists can take it
