    Colt Defender

So.... went to the LGS after work today as another .357 was next on the list. Nada.

A Glock 19 was next up to fill out the lineup between the 17 & 26. Yep, several in both Gen 3 & 4. Let's wander by the .45 case, just to take a peek.....

Made the mistake of putting my mitts on the Colt and now it's got my name on it.

Will pick it up on 8/3 because of the *&^%$(*&% 30 day wait between purchases.

    Anyone carry a Defender Lightweight?

Im curious, do most of the 1911 shooters reload their own? I ask because there is a heck of a difference in cost between 45 acp & 9mm.

If you never shoot your gun, I guess it doesnt matter, but if you are doing serious practice, and/or training, that could really add up.

    Oh yeah, and congrats:)

I shoot all the time. Don't reload, buy ammo online, but I am definitely not a typical 1911 shooter as this will be my first.

    Plenty of other .45's though...

Hate it when that happens. Congrats on the new shooter.

I carry a Colt Commander LWT XSE. Great weapon. I imagine you will love the Defender.

My girlfriend has one and I like it alot. My only problem with it is that it ejects spent rounds upwards toward my face sometimes. Other than that it has been very reliable so far!

I cant say I regret buying my first Colt 1911 because It is my absolute favorite but I wish I would have heeded the warnings of other members...

These things are friggen Addicting... I am willing to bet that you will be shopping for a Government size 1911 before you know it. The 30 day wait you are about to endure is going to be one of much pain and anxiety... Congrats !

    Colt Defender

The Colt Defender is a fine gun. Mine has been reliable and accurate for 7 years, and is easily concealable. I think .45 is a good choice for defensive use.

Few seem to have issues ,my buddy owns one that works great and was suprisingly accurate despite its size.
