another vote for the XD....
I test-shot both the XD9SC and G26 and while I did find the XD heavier, I did like the grip safety so I chose the XD. Funny, I went into the 'comparo test' heavily favoring the Glock.
Have some fun shootin' them all - it's all about personal preference!!
It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

Of the three I'd get a Glock just because of the reputation for reliability.

My carry guns are an XD 45 and a Glock 26. I bought the Glock (as well as a Glock 19) first, and I do like the Glocks. That said, once I went XD, well, it's my favorite. I shoot my 45 better than the Glocks or my Beretta 92FS. The XD has all of the benefits of the Glock, along with a better grip angle, the grip safety, and the tactile indicators for loaded chamber and striker cocked. IF I were to start now, after the XD, then I would go with the XD. I may eventually get the Kahr as well, since it is slimmer, and there are a few places where that would be better. But I carry the Glock 26 in a Nemesis pocket holster, and it's not a problem. So, it will be a while before I get a Kahr.

The XD-9 SC was my first gun, purchased specifically for CCW. I love it and carry it to this day even though I have a few other guns. I liked the way it felt in my hand. It shoots very well and is accurate.
Can't go wrong with the XD-9 SC, in my opinion.

Recoil is easily managed. I can shoot 200 rounds in a day and not feel any adverse effects.

Thanks to all!
Lots of great info and opinions to chew over. I hope to go to Gander mountain and get a feel for both, then over to the range. I shot a springfield 9mm a month ago, but I didn't ask the guy the model. It had a natural point and shoot feel. The only Kahr I have handled was a K-9, so it was heavier than the P-9.

I know these aren't the two models you were talking about, but i have both a glock, and a xd. But there the glock 30 and xd40sc. Both guns are great, had no problems with either of them, i say buy both :)
