    From the recall page:

Springfield has determined that under exceptionally rare circumstances, some 3.3 XD-S™ 9mm and .45ACP caliber pistols could experience an unintended discharge during the loading process when the slide is released, or could experience a double-fire when the trigger is pulled once. The chance of these conditions existing is exceptionally rare, but if they happen, serious injury or death could occur.

Can we start a thread to quibble as to whether it would be an Accidental discharge, or an Unintended discharge?

    Thanks

sigh. Timing is everything, and my timing sucks. Picked up a XDs duotone 9mm last weekend....haven't fired it yet. Serial number is toward the end of the
effected batch. What a pain in the behind.

Well crap. How do you go about packaging it? Does it have to be shipped via a FFL?

Box it up and ship it via fedex to springfield using the label they send you via email.

No. Fill out the form, they will send you a FedEx label. Get a sturdy small box, wrap the gun up and pack it. Attach the label and call FedEx. You can ship directly to Springfield Armory, and they can send the gun back to you. I've done it with Smith & Wesson, Henry, and Marlin (yeah, I've had one or two new guns needing repair).

I do like getting guns delivered to my house. When legal, of course, and that's the only way it happens (this last sentence is for the poor federal agent that pissed off his supervisor and pulled the duty to monitor this site.)

This kind of overshadows the recent Shield ordeal...

I'll have to take a look at my Dad's XDs 45 tomorrow and let my two friends know that also have them. Sucks.

Go their website, look for the recall link, enter your information, print the shipping label, and read the instructions (unloaded, no mag, no accessories, gun should be clean, ship at a manned fedex shipper (do drop box for firearms).
