After an interesting trade I ended up with a G19 gen 4 and some much needed cash. technically the guns "used" but its only a week old. I was planning on getting another 19 in the near future but I was wary the new gen 4's wouldn't hold up to corrosion as well due to glock changing the recipe for environmental reasons.... it doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Well I guess I'm gonna find out for my self sooner than later.
Here it is after a long first day out in the heat, my hybrid holster was Barely damp, its horsehide if I remember correctly.
This is going to be the norm for the next couple months until it cools down so I should find out fairly soon
Mine usually has powdered salt residue on it at the end of the day. I just wipe it down real quick every day and clean it every week or three. The G19 is in a quick-access safe in the garage. It soaks in the humidity. Not a spot of rust anywhere on any of them.
I certainly don't carry 'em cause they're purdy.
You should see my Glock whenever I pull it out. I use the Raven VanGuard 2 so the gun is making contact with my skin the entire time I have it on, and I'm a pretty sweaty guy. You'll be just fine.
Not a spot of rust on my Gen. 4 G23, carried daily IWB in VA humidity. You will be good to go. The differences between Melonite and Tennifer are mostly in the toxic by products one and not the other produces; at least as far as my research has shown.

Should be fine, don't store the gun in the holster, make sure it can air dry both the gun and holster. Wouldn't hurt to wipe both down with a dry cloth at the end of the day maybe a little oil on the gun, none on the holster likely. My only concern would be that a leather rig may not fully dry day to day if you're sweating that much. I'd take the rig the morning after sitting overnight and see if it's cool to the touch indicating there may be excess moisture and see how it does. If it were me in that situation I'd likely have two holsters and rotate between them to insure they are drying completely.
However that said I understand not everyone is a holster maker and has that luxury And I'm starting to sound like the guys with fancy shoes that don't wear the same pair day after day because they need to dry and air or they will break down sooner. So consider what I said above as the best practice, even if it's nothing you can always do day to day it should help the holster last as well as the finish on the gun.
People bury their Glocks for years, dig them up, and they work fine. Glock makes maritime spring cups so the G17 will fire under water! You'll be more than fine.
I live in Texas and have spent much time working in Houston and southern Louisiana where the weather is in the 100s and the humidity is not far behind. I have carried my Gen 3 G23 in a horsehide CBST everyday for the last 5 years. Mine looks like that at any given time of the day or night and the black finish is heavily warn at the front of the slide. I wipe it down everyday with a silicone cloth and a little oil and all has been fine.
The holster IS soaked everyday and I let it dry at night. I have also oiled the holster a little where the gun sets in it to help repel moisture there and it seems to work fine.
So far so good, but I figure (with that kind of moisture) that it is only a matter of time that some rust will develop on that side of the slide. When it does, I will do the best I can to get it off and keep it off. The good thing is that a little rust on the outside of the slide will not harm the function of the gun, so I am not really going to stress over it, I will do my best to repel it though.
If it gets overrun with it, I will have the slide refinished.
I consider it a well used tool and I will take care of it the best that I can, but I also have to expect that a well used tool will look like one.

Does the same happen if you have a silicone suede lined holster?, like Galco. After my un-lined holster took the bluing off of my Brown High Power I swore off un-lined holsters and blued slides. I will only buy a piece if it's two toned.
I understand Right Guard deodorant works well on sweaty Glocks.
