My idea of the ultimate 9mm pocket gun

So, if any manufacturers are out there trolling cyberspace, here it goes...

Start with a light weight snub-nose revolver - for reliability

Chamber it in 9mm, +P capable

Make the cylinder shorter than is typical for the longer .38 Special cartridge - this will allow the cylinder and frame to be shorter, which will make it easier to pocket carry in shorter pockets. This is the reason for using 9mm instead of .38 - it is a smaller, higher pressure, more efficient cartridge than the .38 Special

Cut the cylinder for moon clips. There should be three versions - 5 rounds, 3 rounds, and 2 rounds. Those who want ultimate concealment could carry their reloads as 3+2. If it can be made as a six shooter instead of a 5 shooter, even better - then the clips could be 6 or 3 rounds

Give it a decent DAO trigger

Give it decent sights out of the box - a night sight/fiber optic in the front would be nice. Lasergrips should be available as an option.

Package it with a pocket holster, and a belt/pocket holster for a set of reloads

Price it at a reasonable level

Sell as many as you can make

Ruger - Looking at YOU with your LCR...you are halfway there!

    Thanks - I'll only take a 5% commission!

    Thoughts?

I know it isn't exactly what you want, but have you looked at the Charter Arms 9mm revolver?

I was just thinking this morning that if NAA made their cylinder just a tad bigger and drilled it in a triangle pattern for .32 and moved the barrel down just a little and made it a little bigger they could get a very small bigger revolver that is still much smaller than anything else out there.

I'd love something like the P938 with DA/SA and without the safety.

I'd like a Walther PPQ the size of my P938.

At 22 oz, it is much too heavy for this role. Ideally, target weight is less than 16 oz loaded.

The use of moon clips also eliminates the need for speed strips, and would make reloading much faster.

Would love to have a 9mm LCR. That would be the ultimate pocket revolver IMO.

That's just it...no one makes anything like this. Instead they try to foist pocket sized 9mm semi autos on us, which invariably end up being finicky little beasts. The answer is so obvious, yet nobody makes it.

Sort of a modern era Bankers Special, which was smaller than the Detective Special.

If whoever makes it understands how to market it as a reliable pocket 9, they will sell as many as they can make.

    GREAT idea, 10thmtn.

If S&W modified their J frame Airweight as you described, I would be first in line to buy one.

A shorter 442 chambered for 9mm+P; that would be the cat's pajamas.

Also weighs in at 22 oz, though.
