Going to look at a 1911 tomorrow.....

OK, I may be taking the plunge. I am going to check out a SA GI 1911 ...from the pic I want to say it is a 4 inch. I know squat about 1911's. I need a crash course in what to look for in a used 1911, problems, areas to inspect closely, etc

Also if anyone has experience with or own a SA GI model I would love to hear your thoughts on it. It will be mainly a range gun. I know the sights are a bit ..... eehhhhh..... but i am ok with that as will change them anyway. I want to hear about functionality, reliability and what it smells like !

This is a pretty good blog, you should find helpful. Checking a used 1911 with a purchase in mind

Xavier's done a good job, plus it saves a whole bunch of typing.

I would love to get me a 1911 before I retire but I don't see it in my funds.

Just a quick tip, didn't have a chance to read OD's post, but am looking forward to coming back to it.

Look for bubba'ing. So many people want to home gunsmith 1911's, the majority have no business changing recoil springs by themselves

Excellent article, thanks for posting it! I bookmarked it and will no doubt find myself going back to it from time to time until it becomes committed to memory.

Buyer's guide for all you 1911 addicts...

Another quality read, not mine no credit taken...

But you need to be warned,1911s don't like to be alone, they tend to multiply in your safe,be very careful they are addictive....
Good luck and let us know what you get.

Btw I love my Sr1911, and my Sig rcs.
