    1911 on duty for 9/11

As stated earlier today in another thread, I was finally approved to carry my Colt on duty. It gave me comfort all day, and was easy to conceal. Much easier to conceal in my street clothes than the Glock. In my Safariland, it rides so close to my skin that OWB is easy.
Here's a pic after work my wife took.

Here's a pic of it exposed. The only thing not seen is my pepper spray, cuffs and magazines.

The only problem is sweat on a blued finish.
But I intend to remedy this with a stainless Colt by next spring.
And no, an 8 round capacity didn't bother me at all.
I drew the pony once, snicked off the safety and had every confidence that it was well up to the job.

A very appropriate pistol on this particular day. I did a drop-off at the airport with my neighbor and just grabbed my SP101. As for the iPhone you can hit the "edit" button on the screen and then at the bottom there is a half-circle line with arrow(looks like the reply button down below this box). Hit that and it spins the picture until you find the view you want.

Everyone should own a 1911 at least once in their life. After having problems with the two 3" Colts, I ended up buying a 4.25" Ruger 1911 and it does carry better than my Glock 19, despite being about a pound heavier. I have not bought a blued gun in 15 years, especially since moving to Florida 3 years ago.

Somehow I ended up with only Sigs, HKs and S&W J-frames.

(I'd want to get rid of the Glock also)

Ridiculous that officers can't carry what they are most comfortable with. While a 1911 for duty carry wouldn't by my choice that by no means should take that possibility away from you, or anyone else. I'm very happy that your agency has seen the error of their ways in not letting you carry what you want. I can only hope that more agencies will stop believing that their officers aren't capable of carrying the 102 year old pony.

Actually just a plain ol Gov model or Cmdr in all steel. But, who knows, , I might go plum crazy and get a Delta:)
But the plain ol gov is a very satisfying gun for me.

I would probably want a memory pad on the grip safety, as I have really come to appreciate it on my Custom model. Night sights would be nice, but not really a must for me.

Right now I am saving my pennies and just waiting...

Yeah, an early day. I'm almost embarrassed to admit it, but the only arrest was a woman with a warrant from Ohio who worked at a local fast food place.
The other was a man who had moved out of an Apartment he was sharing with some other people. All sources indicate he is long out of state, probably to Fla. I'll leave him to OldVet:)
