    Best Carry Glock?

So I am in the market for a Carry/Home defense gun. I am wondering what everyone's choices are and why.. I am new to the World of concealed carry/home defense but not weapons/guns in general (8 yrs USMC). I searched but didn't find what I was looking for (sorry if this is a common question/problem). I couldn't find what I wanted when it was searched (maybe I am blind!) .

these are the guns I want for carry/home defense in order from 1st-Last:
    Glock 23 Gen4
    Glock 23 Gen3
    Glock 30S

Reason being is I wanted something I could use for both carry and home defense with an option to attach a light/laser.

if I cant find those above, I suppose:
    Glock 27 Gen4
Glock 30 Gen 4/30SF (I know these have rails.. just wanted the 30s for the smaller slide)

Those are my choices for Glocks. What are yours?!

I have thought about XDM .40/.45. I have shot the XD .40/.45 (lived in Cali before moving to Texas.. XDMs aren't allowed for sale in Ca.!!! Boo)

Whats your EDC and why? I am interested in Compact/Sub Compact guns only. Thanks! again sorry if this was asked/posted some where else. I just could not find it!

26, 30, but not necessarily in that order....

If I am in the field "turning wrenches" I will carry the 26 just because it's smaller.

Anytime else if I'm carrying a Glock it's a 30. Although the recently acquired 19 is sharing duty....with the Defender...

I would like a Glock in .40Cal reason being is I am going in to law enforcement and the agencies I am applying for shoot .40cal so I would like to use/train with the same size Cal. I am not saying I don't like the 9MM ( I've shot the M9 Beretta mostly while in the Marine Corps). Just want something in the same Caliber as I will be using in law enforcement. :)

Check out the 27. Subcompact .40, same size as the 26.

    Very easy to conceal.

Only have one Glock a G30 sf. I usually carry it OWB but with my looser fit
pants/shorts I carry it IWB @3.30 no prob.
It is "Thick as a brick" but with the right holster.....

the 27 would be my second choice but I hate that there are no rails! only because I would like to add a light/laser for home defense.

the G30/G30SF would fit fine in all my cargo shorts but not my jeans (and no I don't wear skinny jeans) at least that's what it looks like. all my cargo shorts are bigger than my jeans (seems like that's always the case.. Same Sizes too).

Since you seem to prefer the 40, I'd say a 23 is the way to go.

I have a 19, same as a 23, but chambered in 9mm. I carry it all the time with no trouble.

Never had a Gen 3 23, but had a Gen 4 23, and I'd prefer it over the 3. But that's just me.

I like holding the flashlight in my off-hand for home defense. In the dark in my house I don't necessarily want to be pointing a pistol everywhere I want to look. I understand people who this does not bother, but it doesn't work for me.

I currently carry a G26 gen3 most of the time. I had a G27 Gen4, but found I was more accurate and follow up shots were quicker and more accurate with the G26. The .40 was just a bit too snappy for me. With your criteria I would absolutely go with the G23.

Solid choices. I became a big G19 fan when that was selected as my old job's duty-gun after years with a Model 64 Smith(38Spl). I'm an old 1911 guy, but the 9mm has come a long way and the G19 is a great all-around platform to launch those rounds. Never jumped on the 40S&W round bandwagon, but many swear by it to include both the FBI and USMS.

im worried if I "settle for the gen3" and ever shoot the gen4 I would be upset I didn't get it lol.

I am hoping the gen4 is available soon here.
