This is a discussion on My new carry gun within the Defensive Carry Guns forums, part of the Defensive Carry Discussions category; Picked this beauty up as a birthday gift to myself today :-) My first and definitely not last CZ. Will be carried in an Alien ...

Congrats! Shot it yet?
Looks like .40 cal. Curious - what were your thoughts/considerations on the caliber you picked, as well as the gun manufacturer? I'm not asking you to defend your choice, or write a novel, just wondering if you had a decision point. I'm currently sizing up guns to ask for as a Christmas present.
The combination of size/round count and smoothness of the trigger won out over other guns. I've had pretty much all of the modern poly guns and CZ feels the best in my hand. I don't worry too much about caliber, anything in the 9/40/45 range is more than adequate IMHO for self defense.

Happy Birthday and expect to see a range report.
Nice! Excellent choice. I'd be curious to hear how it carries. Got it set for decocker or safety?
"Yet this government never of itself furthered any enterprise, but by the alacrity with which it got out of the way... The character inherent in the American people has done all that has been accomplished; and it would have done somewhat more, if the government had not sometimes got in its way."
That's a beauty, nice lines, heard a lot of good about CZ from knowledgeable folks.
I keep a PF9 for hot weather carry, but I have become a .45 guy over the years.
As a career LEO, I was issued .40cal most often.
Now that I'm retired, the sidearm is MY choice. Recently, got a S&W Shield, but decided to go with .40 as the sidearm is rated +P and I can easily get 500+ ft-lbs terminal energy with a near 'full-dump' up to 20 ft with the right warhead from some of the better JHP ammo brands like Cor-Bon, Hornady Critical, etc.
My favorite carrys are 3 in bbls, so I use JHPs, that open at lower velocities for carry. Total concealment is a priority for me.
Fat chance I'm going to try and defend a SD shoot over 20 feet, it happens, but things get real iffy at 20 ft and beyond.
Nice light on there. It's good to know who you're shooting.
Get some range ammo & go celbrate your B-Day!! Then post a range report... in detail.
I used to compete with a CZ 75B and am a big fan of CZ guns.

Nice pic, too!
