Ruger SR1911 Commander or CZ 97B

    Hi Team,

Long time lurker here in need of some help making a decision. While I am a Glock guy, I am having a hard time deciding between the Ruger and CZ. I like the 1911 style and that was my intent when I went out shopping, but that CZ just feels right in the hand. Before the suggestions, she already said no to me buying both.............................

I have a CZ 75B. The 97 is virtually the same gun chambered in 45 acp. You can't go wrong with them. They are just great guns to shoot and own. good luck

    For carry or range fun?

I would be hesitant to buy the 97b as a carry gun. I like full-sized guns for carry but that is probably a bit too large.

If you are willing to learn the ins and outs of the 1911, the 4.25" is a VERY comfortable gun for carry.

Now, if it is just for the range, I would have decide which one would I could get the best deal on. They would both be fun.

I have the SR1911 and absolutely love it, so my vote is for the Ruger.

Carrying aside , I don't you think you can go wrong with either. Both are solid guns with great reputations. If you are going to carry however, I would go for the thinner 1911. Tough choice, I don't envy your position ... On second , yes I do

Both are good guns. I agree with RoadRunner71, for a conceal carry gun the CZ97 is going to take some work to do. Government or Commander size 1911 will carry easier and conceal better. (Can't believe I'm recommending something over a CZ!!)

The latest CZ97 , Blued with Metal Grips is an awesome pistol and so good looking

Id much rather own the 97 then the SR , which I actually owned and
sold about a month ago...The SR is an ok 1911 but the CZ and a tactical
    monster..

As I'm CZ fan go for 97B 3 more rounds in magazine...
But you must have quite large hands to properly grip 97B.

Then that's the one to get - the one that fits your hand best. So long as you remember that there's probably more accessories for the 1911 than for the CZ. Weigh it all together and if your gut says to go with the CZ - then do it and don't look back. Now, if it's because you love a blued gun and don't like the stainless look - nothing wrong with that.

A fairer comparison would probably have been with the Ruger Government sized 1911, though. If the Browning HP was ever made in a .45 it would probably had looked like the CZ97.

    Has a nice comparison chart.

If you shoot a Series 70 type 1911 with a tuned trigger, the CZ 97 will take some practice to gain proficiency. If you shoot a Glock, you'll think you are in trigger heaven.

I'd have to go with the CZ.

Both would serve you well and even though I'm more of a Ruger fan, if the CZ feels better in your hands, go for it.

Thanks for all the responses team and I think I have a solution as this purchase is strictly for plinking pleasure. Buy the Ruger(really want one and its finally available locally) and put the CZ (They sold the blue on but have a stainless in stock) on hold until after Christmas. Either way, I'll have both.
