    70 Series Nickle Commander

I brought this home tonight. It sat on the shelves for about 3 weeks, so I think I gave people enough time to fondle, and play with it and attempt to buy it before I got my gritty hands on it.
Started to field strip it and clean it up a bit. A 70 Series Satin Nickle Combat Commander. The Colt book says it's made around 1973. WOO HOO!
It's got all the factory parts, except for Hammer, slide stop, and grip safety. (I have spare Colt nickle parts to replace these, so it will be a easy fix)
Took it apart, and it looks like it has about a few hunderd round put thru it, no more than that. IT'S VERY TIGHT! NO "rattle" at all!
Gonna make it part of my Rotation Carry after I put some rounds down range.
Here's a couple pix.. What do ya think? Cost me 625.50 when it was all done hehehe

Sweet gun! Sweet deal! I love colt 1911's etc. In Texas they are like trucks. Everybody wants one and they bring more money. Appears to be in Very nice shape. Congrats!

I don't carry my 1911 these days but those who prefer that platform are well served and this looks like a prime example of the species.

Very jealous..... My father has a picture of my grandfather in his army uniform with one of these. It's one one of the guns I've been chasing in my family lineage. My dad has no idea what happened to the gun. Thinks his dad lost it in a drunken stuper in Pittsburgh. Congrats very jealous.

Looks like you got a safe queen... the well-worn ones start to show copper underneath the nickel plating at the wear points. Sweet!

So how'd you swing a purchase in Maine if you're in the Granite State?

    Real nice. Congrats
I just mentioned elsewhere, I had one and sold it when my interests went elsewhere and it took me a long time to find another for a decent price. I hope to have the correct grips next week. I think they are beautiful handguns. Mine's a '74.

Very nice choice. Simple, clean, milspec, 70-series, Colt. And, at a decent price. Hard not to like it.

Seems like a good price for the Colt. I would carry it. Nothing like a full metal gun. Seems like they used to machine things better back then.

What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."

Smitty. We (the Store) have 2 FFLs. One for Maine, and one for transfers to NH. Because the Store is on the ME/NH border (kittery Me and Portsmouth NH) we have this transfer station (a small building) that has our NH FFL, so we can legally sell to NH residents(OR other out-of-State residents who wish to have the rifle/shotgun transferred to our NH station, where they phyically take posesion of it) AFTER the NICS comes back and approved, one of our Staff drives the gun to the transfer station, we go inside, sign off, and we're done. nice huh? No shipping. No tax. As an Employee there, I've done this many times for our Customer base. We can only transfer HANDGUNS to New Hampshire Residents. Long guns, can be transferred there if requested by the purchaser. We (the Store ) will NOT automatically do it unless the purchaser REQUESTS the transfer to the NH Transfer station. (tax thing I suppose)
