    Rock Island Armory 1911 MS

Took my new RIA 1911 MS to the range today. It ran flawlessly, 100 rounds down range without one hiccup. This was my first try with the 1911 platform. The sights are fixed and my aim was not great. Right to left was fine, up and down was a little off. I am sure it was due to my own issues. Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Initially, I had issues with assembly/disassembly and it is now under control. While compressing the guide spring I used a leather glove...no problems. I guess I need a few more calluses. For the price I think my RIA 1911 MS is a heck of a deal.

I want one in 10mm BAD. Don't want a G Lock don't want a colt delta elite(there is a reason they don't make them anymore) or an EAA. Rock Island has been making 1911s for decades and that is the only caliber that I would want a 10mm. Don't like 45s if its 9or 40 its going to be a S&W MP which I already have. Just haven't been able to rat hole the money for one. One of these day though one of these days.

    ^^^^^^^THIS

If you knock Armscor, you either don't know, or you just don't care enough to know.

Either way, you're doing it wrong.

I have been comtemplating one. They were on sale about 6 months ago on Slickguns and I nearly purchased one. Just one of those things I think I need. Glad to hear it ran flawless. You will get the aim figured out I am sure. Enjoy.

Rocks are one of the best handgun values on the market. Considering the price point, they're simply an amazing handgun. I have a commander and compact in .45 ACP. Someday I'll round out my collection with a 9mm compact version. I've added new grips (doesn't everyone?) along with a rounded butt mainspring housing and Wilsons tactical thumb safety on each of my Rocks. I'm not too keen on the new roll stamp they went to but it's a working man's 1911 and mine have been flawless.

I even spent the money to have new sights installed on my slides. I would love a true Colt CCO but I love my Rocks. The other side of the coin is the Citadel; they're made by the same company; come with 2 mags instead of one and the grips are one step above the Rock's. So they're another contender.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Springfield Armory 1911's and would love to have a high end 9mm CCO styled 1911 but for me the Rocks have been amazing hand guns. If anyone "disses" them, they really just don't appreciate "value".

    Enjoy yours!
